Keepsake

There are very few things that I own that I would call a keepsake. When I graduated from 8th grade my mom gave me a string of pearls. At the time, I didn't think it was that great of a gift. Now it is a treasured keepsake to me because my mom was not one to really give gifts. I also have a ring that Shelby's grandpa Gerald gave to his grandma Karen that she gave to me after he passed away. A gift that was meaningful to her and she wanted to share with me.....a keepsake. But my keepsake from last weekend, will likely be the most meaningful ever.....
My niece Kelli is crafty. We all know it. We all dislike her a little bit for it because she is the only 'cousin' with crafty talent. Shelby got the singing/guitar deal, Kelli got the crafy deal and the rest of us....not so much. Above you will see a part of my new quilt. Note the fancy stitchery and pretty colors.
Lots of detail and love in every square!
She called it a lap quilt and it's nice and big and warm and cozy. But it's not just ANY lap quilt. The brown plaid, the blue plaid and the solid blue parts are all pieces of material she took from some of my Dad's dress shirts. She made each of us a lap quilt....one for herself, me, Shelby, Davin, Katie and Allison.

It warms my heart every time I see it. An awesome gift....a wonderful keepsake.
