Adventures in Sean

We have had one fabulous week...started with Sean's report card. His 2nd quarter summary says "what has been far on the horizon for Sean has come into the realm of reality, day after day. His growth in self control, increased endurance and focus on tasks, as well as his increased ability to work with less structure and more independence seem to be all coming together at the same time. Sean's language development has widely expanded too with complete sentences based on insightful thoughts. All this success is boosting his confidence too, which is the oil that keeps the wheels turning. CONGRATULATIONS!"
Going to school for 6 hours every day really takes it's toll on him (as noted in picture where he is passed OUT) but it is making such a difference. When he was diagnosed at age 2 with autism, I didn't think I would ever see a note like that from a teacher. YEAH FOR BABY SEAN!!!!

And since I am already bragging on him, he decided he wanted to go to Dairy Queen for my birthday last night and it has been 2 years (or more) since we have taken him to a restaurant other than McDonald's to play but we went for it and he did a GREAT job. He even ate his dinner!

slip sliding away...

AJ loves to slide down the steps....sometimes much faster than this video shows. My brother Ken dropped by after visiting Iowa/central Illinois to do sales calls and got to spend time with Sean and AJ and witness this sliding event. AJ is pretty sad his Aunt Bree didn't get to come to see it too....

brotherly "love"

My dad just asked me yesterday if the boys are starting to play better together. I suppose if you factor in that Sean used to always win the fights and sometimes they are now too close to call, then you could say things are improving. However, this morning when I turned my back for one second, there was screaming and blood on the floor as noted above. I never did figure out who the blood came from but I suspect Sean's nose....AJ "linebacker" Wyrick is starting to 'fend himself. good times.

at first, you think to yourself "how sweet the boys are enjoying a bowl of goldfish together". But just let me throw in that Sean had dumped all the fish into the bowl for AJ which is nice until I tell you the pink bowl has it's own special name at our house....the PUKE bowl. And Sean had puked into it the day before this picture. As Sean dumped the fish in, he said so nicely "here AJ you can have some colors fish in the puke bowl" EW!

Santa Mambo

Sean's school had to re-schedule their Christmas program til January due to nasty weather so we got to see Sean and an older class do the Santa Mambo on Monday. Sean is the little guy who jingles some bells (and drops them), kicks his legs from side to side and STICKS the finale :) Let's just say that everyone around us was quite entertained by his theatrics!

Christmas morning---HOHOHO

Ok I am obviously not a videogragher but turn up the volume and enjoy :)

lil Miss Maya

Congratulations to our friends, Mike and Jessica, on their adoption of their new daughter, Maya Nicole. Maya was born 01/11/09 weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces and 19 inches long. AJ and I got to meet Miss Maya last night and aside from the fact that he thinks her name is Anna, we all think she is pretty sweet!!!! (although AJ would have preferred it if she would have been wearing a Frosty sleeper)

OBSESSED

AJ is obsessed with Frosty the Snowman right now...OBSESSED!!!! he says Frosty all day long. he can find a Frosty easier than a pro can find Waldo in a Waldo poster. Granny and Pawpaw Jim got him Frosty pj's for Christmas and he wears them all day and all night. And tonight Brian brought him a frosty. He is in frosty heaven :)
